Assignment Collaboration

Designing an assignment that has research or information literacy components? The librarian is available to collaborate and help you create an assignment that meets your learning outcomes and is fun for students! You can connect with the librarian by phone at (336) 224-4727, via email at library@davidsondavie.edu, or by completing the Connect with the Librarian form

Digital Accessibility

The library is committed to making digital products accessible for all users and recommends including the following statement in your courses if you plan to use library resources. "This course requires the use of library resources which may not be fully accessible to all individuals. DDCC is working with vendors to improve these issues. Please contact your instructor to discuss other effective means of providing equal alternate access." If a student alerts you to an issue, please contact the Office of Digital Accessibility to consult on possible solutions.

Distance Education

Most of the Library’s materials and services are available in a digital or online format. The library's databases can be accessed with your StormTrac username and password, and anyone can get help from a librarian using the 24-hour chat service located at the top of this webpage. If you or your students don't come to campus, our physical collection is still available. The library offers free delivery of  our print materials to and from your location. Even if the material is one what we borrow from another library through interlibrary loan, we'll ship the item to your residence and provide you the means to return it at no charge. If you or your students do not come to campus and have a library need, please contact the library via phone at (336) 447-2727 or email at library@davidsondavie.edu for help.

Purchase Suggestions and Interlibrary Loan

If the library doesn't currently offer access to certain materials that you would like to use for instruction, complete the form Suggest a Purchase form, and the library may be able to purchase it. Faculty and staff purchase suggestions receive priority consideration when determining which resources the library will purchase. If you only need the material temporarily, try submitting an interlibrary loan request. Interlibary loan is a service where our library borrows materials owned by other libraries. Davidson-Davie Community College students, faculty, and staff may borrow materials through interlibrary loan at no charge. Complete the Interlibrary Loan form to make a request.

Library Computer Lab

The Davidson Campus Library offers a 50 station computer lab available for faculty and staff to reserve for their courses or college functions. Complete the Open Computer Lab Reservation form to make a reservation. The computer lab is located on the second floor of the Love Building.

Library and Information Literacy Instruction

The librarian provides instruction on a variety of research topics and can meet with your class or department online or face-to-face. To discuss your instruction needs, complete the Library Instruction Request form, call the library at (336) 224-4727, or email library@davidsondavie.edu.

Guides

The librarian can create course or assignment specific guides that gather relevant information resources on one webpage, making research easier for students. To request a guide for your course, call the library at (336) 224-4727 or email library@davidsondavie.edu.

Reserves

The library circulates unique or limited-access materials that instructors require their students use. These materials are housed at a circulation desk within the library and can include books, articles, videos, CDs, DVDs, and an instructor's personal items. Faculty and staff may request materials be circulated to their students as reserve items by visiting the library, calling (336) 224-4727, or emailing library@davidsondavie.edu.
