Find Streaming Video

Most of our streaming video databases are not searchable through the library's main search tool called the Discovery Search. This means that you'll have to individually search each database to explore what they have. If you don't find what you're looking for, contact the librarian by email, phone, or by visiting the library.

The AdViews digital collection provides access to thousands of historic commercials created during the 1950s - 1980s.
American Indian Film Gallery
A collection of vintage motion pictures offering perspectives on the American Indian experience.
American Masters Digital Archive
Explore unreleased interviews with musicians, filmmakers, artists, writers, and more, that were filmed for the American Masters documentary series.
BBC Archive
The BBC archives contains themed collections of radio and TV programmes, documents and photographs from as far back as the 1930s.
C-SPAN Video Library
The C-SPAN Video Library records, indexes, and archives all C-SPAN programming for historical, educational, research, and archival uses. Coverage runs from 1987-present.
Civil Rights Digital Library
The Civil Rights Digital Library promotes an enhanced understanding of the Movement by helping users discover primary sources and other educational materials from libraries, archives, museums, public broadcasters, and others on a national scale.

Films for Action is a collection of social justice documentaries, short films, and videos from around the world, focusing on democratic ideals and sustainability.
Folkstreams
Folkstreams is a non-profit dedicated to finding, preserving, contextualizing, and showcasing documentary films on American traditional cultures.
Frontline
Frontline is PBS's journalistic documentary series that captures a wide range of current events and controversial issues.
IMDb TV
IMDb TV offers free movies and TV shows, usually with ads. A free account is required for viewing.
Media Burn
The Media Burn Archive is a collection of over 6,000 independent, non-corporate tapes that reflect cultural, political and social reality as seen by independent producers, from 1969 to the present.
Moving Images (Internet Archive)
The non-profit Internet Archive stores millions of free digitized movies and broadcasts (even advertising), along with music, websites, software, and scanned periodicals and books.
Netflix Documentaries
Netflix makes several of its documentaries available for free via YouTube.
Open Culture
Open Culture links to more than 1,000 free, online movies including film noir, horror, silents, shorts, comedy, drama, and more.
P.O.V. Video
POV (a cinema term for “point of view”) is television’s longest-running showcase for independent nonfiction films known for "putting a human face on contemporary social issues."
Presidential Speeches
The University of Virginia collects some of the most important presidential speeches in American history. These speeches all have transcripts, and some are available in their entirety in audio or video. Coverage runs from 1789-present.
